It is a great privilege in a very rare occasion that no less than the National Electrification Administration (NEA) Administrator Edgardo R. Masongsong who foreran Strategic Thinking and Planning in the electric cooperatives facilitates the BUSECO Strategic Planning conference on January 30, 2021 held at Loiza’s Pavilion Grand Hall, Malaybalay City with participants including the BUSECO Board of Directors, NCECCO EC-Wide Officers headed by Chairman and NCECCO NEW Mindanao Chapter Assistant Secretary Manolo O. Valdez, BUSECO Executive and expanded Management Committee pressing on the theme: “Sustaining the Strategic Partnership of the NEA-ECs-MCOs Towards Rural Development and Nation-Building.“
The Strategic Planning laid from the reality of the new normal described by NEA Administrator as the “new societal order” where ECs are being challenged to thrive amidst the threats such as the pandemic and the continuing challenge of rural electrification and socio-economic development.
The participants were made to craft EC Risk Management Sustainability Plan (ECRMSP) which identifies the initiatives; success indicators; aspects/areas; and activities down to targets and responsible department and persons. This new tool is very apt in our current situation and is best helpful for the operations of the ECs to run as normal and as smoothly as possible despite the confronts in the industry.
Admin Masongsong emphasized that rural electrification corresponds to Sustainable Rural Development- a perspective everyone in the EC and RE should maintain in order to be impassioned in the EC movement. Also, AERM, informed the participants that the unified movement- ONE EC MCO has already set out initiatives and that with the unified planning and strategizing – Rural Development and Nation-Building is within reach.
BUSECO is grateful for the opportunity and very much honored that the NEA Administrator afforded his time, wisdom and expertise in guiding BUSECO for the greater gains of the MCOs, the cooperative and the nation in general.
Admin Masongsong is always a BUSECO confederate as he is BUSECO’s former General Manager prior to his stance in the House of Representatives and NEA. He took the first steps in strategically planning the operations of BUSECO in early 2000s, which has become one of BUSECO’s best practices up to this day.
