BUSECO supports Tree Growing Program

The Bukidnon Second Electric Cooperative, Inc. (BUSECO) is sincere on its endeavor to help the greening program of the government. As a distribution utility, BUSECO believes that its best contribution to help improve the power industry is to nurture the natural resources specifically watersheds through planting numerous trees. This is to ensure that hydro powers are still feasible in the long run. With this undertaking also, Bukidnon will soon have a reliable power supply which is very relevant with the cooperative’s aspiration to become a World Class Organizaton in the near future.

On May 1, 2014, BUSECO Partners and Associates with the lead of no less than General Manager Deiter Hoff P. Arellano, CPA, MBA conducted tree planting at Mangima, Manolo Fortich. The group was able to plant two hundred fifty (250) trees in almost two hours duration.

Moreover, BUSECO planned to plant eleven thousand (11,000) trees for the year 2014 with three (3) years maintenance to ensure that the trees will grow. The proposed location for BUSECO Tree Growing Program is at Mangima Eco-Tree Park, Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon in coordination/partnership with the Local Government Unit through the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office. The area is ten (10) hectares.

A maximum of One Thousand One Hundred (1,100) trees per hectare will be planted. BUSECO ensures that all trees will be drought-tolerant. Further, BUSECO considers that trees must also be tolerant of local environmental conditions such as temperature, soil, water quality, air quality, and wind. Mahogany, Lawaan and fruit trees are the species of trees proposed to be planted. Estimated for this program will be P312,000.00.

Though this undertaking is little, however, its impact for the upcoming years will be significant. More so, with the recent endeavor of the cooperative to develop hydro power plants to ensure that its Member Consumer Owners will have a reliable power supply at a reasonable price which BUSECO deemed important in reaching its goal of becoming a World Class Organization.

Onwards and Soar High BUSECO!
